Tonight city council will meet and decide the fate of Ordinance 17-56, which will create a Charter Review Study Group pertinent to researching the issue of nonpartisan elections. Also, through the first reading, Council begins the process of considering another measure which will grant them a pay raise of just over 11 percent. Considering that we citizens are often told that we don’t have enough money in the budget to fully staff our fire and police departments, or even to pave our roads and alleys in a timely manner (among numerous other concerns), do think this is an appropriate use of your tax dollars?

Speaking of appropriate use of citizen tax dollars, the School Board will consider reappointing the Superintendent after his “retirement”. Where do you stand on the double-dipping here? This will increase his pay significantly. Pay increases all around for the officials running the show while we are being told that we the people can’t afford some vital services. I don’t know about you, but it stinks to me.
