BREAKING NEWS

Just a moment ago I was appointed by Newark City Council to serve as one of the five members on the 2017 Charter Review Commission. You can count on me to serve as your voice in this commission. The primary objective I have is in advocating for all of Newark’s local elections to be nonpartisan. This beneficial for the people for numerous reasons, chief among those reasons being that the people will have representatives who are not beholden to one party or the other. When you have political parties with predetermined platforms promoting one slate of candidates against the other, the election tends to be about the parties as opposed to being about you. I’m sure that more issues that will face the commission are likely to get my attention as well, but I want to hear from you. What are your thoughts about some things that the commission should tackle to improve how our government in the city functions?
