We Made It (and more thoughts)!

First and foremost, I need to thank each and every person who signed my candidate petition in this campaign for Congress! With very short notice and a minimum requirement of 50 valid signatures, an incredible group of people from close friends, associates, and fellow party members to even friends and family of acquaintances came together to help put our campaign over the top! I submitted 58 signatures on the deadline and that was enough to get the job done, so thank you!
Now that the filing is done, I want to shift gears to the primary campaign. There are three of us who filed in the Democratic primary to challenge the incumbent, Republican Troy Balderson, in November: myself, Jerrad Christian, and Jason Reynard.
My campaign is predominantly about opposing and preventing fascism in this country. It is NOT my intention to tear down fellow Democrats. Having said that, I will offer critique if such is warranted, but I have yet to see a reason to do so at this point in time.
With absolute confidence, I can say that I will fully throw my support to Jerrad Christian if he wins the primary. I have met him several times and find him to be a genuinely good person who would represent the people of this district well in our nation’s capital.
Honestly, I am prepared to do the same for Mr. Reynard, but I know nothing about him. Once I saw that he was running, I immediately did an online search and found nothing. In a way, Mr. Reynard, this is kind of an open request for you to reach out to me at your earliest convenience. Good luck, either way!
Back to you, the people.
In the midst of everything that is going on in our country right now, I want you to know that you absolutely have a choice this May and this November. We do NOT have to maintain the status quo, nor do we have to continue our slide into authoritarianism. Nor do we have to be complacent as our government permits Epstein’s clients to get away with their horrid human rights violations.
The people deserve JUSTICE, and that is what this campaign is all about:
JUSTICE for survivors and victims (because, tragically, not all survive)
JUSTICE for workers
JUSTICE for our neighborhoods
JUSTICE for all.
I have a lot more ideas that I want to share with all of you, and I intend to do so very frequently between now and the primary on May 5th, and then up through the general election in November if I am fortunate enough to be your nominee.
But, before I close, I want to make one thing very clear: win or lose, my mission will be to point out that the people of Ohio’s 12th Congressional District deserve better than Congressman Troy Balderson.
We deserve better than someone who blindly totes the party line. You can verify with anyone in Licking County Democratic Party leadership who has known me over the past 23 years of my local political involvement whether it is a fact that I am FAR from a blind party loyalist. We certainly deserve better than a Congressman (like Troy) who turned a blind eye to the Epstein Files discharge petition until Trump was compelled to endorse it. Can Congressman Balderson think for himself? Why is Balderson not vocal in demanding justice for the lives wrecked by Epstein and his cohorts?
These are questions (among MANY) that need to be answered, and we will keep asking through November.
I will be back soon with some more thoughts about this race and our vision for the future.
Onwards,
Daniel
